Questions, answered plainly.
For workers
What does MidBank Tipping cost me?
Nothing to sign up and nothing monthly. The platform fee comes off the tip: 4% with a $0.50 minimum, and the guest can choose to cover it, in which case you keep the whole tip.
How do I see what I earned?
Your dashboard lists every tip with the fee, who paid it and what you receive, one line per tip, with the reference from the audit log.
Is MidBank a bank?
No. MidBank Tipping is a tipping product. MidBank is not a bank, does not hold deposits, and is not FDIC insured.
When do I actually get paid?
The payout rail is still being switched on. Tips are recorded to your ledger in full today, but no money moves yet and we are not promising a date. When that changes it will be posted on the changelog with the date.
What about taxes?
Every tip accrues to your own tax ledger as it happens, and the tax centre keeps a Form 4070 record. → Tax center
Who can see my page?
Anyone with the link or the code. It shows your first name, your role and your photo if you added one. It never shows your contact details.
What if a guest tips the wrong person?
Tell your manager. Every tip is on the audit log with a reference, so it can be found and corrected rather than argued about.
Can I use my own photo?
Yes, you upload it yourself from your claim link. We never generate a picture of a person.
For guests
Do I need an app?
No. The page opens in your browser.
Do I need an account?
No.
What is the fee and who pays it?
4% of the tip with a $0.50 minimum. You choose: cover it and the worker keeps the whole tip, or leave it and it comes off the tip. Both numbers are on the screen before you pay.
Does the worker actually get it?
The tip is recorded to that person's own ledger with the fee and the net printed on the same line. Today payments are in sandbox — no card is charged and no money moves — and the page says so before you pay.
Will you have my phone number?
No. The worker never sees your name, your number or your card details.
Can I get a receipt?
Yes, ask for one on the thank-you screen. → See how it works
